I am conducting a study on how the brain changes during periods of deafness and how this may effect speech perception with a cochlear implant. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 65 who have severe to profound deafness and have had a cochlear implant for a minimum of six months are needed to participate. Study procedures include a hearing test, speech perception tests (repeating sentences and words) and recording of brainwaves in response to visual stimuli. The time required to participate in the study is 2-3 hours.
