Volunteers of America Texas, a faith based non-profit organization,
is committed to serving people in need, strengthening families and
building communities.
Volunteers of America Texas- Houston Region is looking for part-time
and full-time staff to work with its deaf-blind clients.
Opportunities are available in Houston as well as Galveston.
Duties and responsibilities include the following:
1. Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL). ADL may include
but are not limited to such as:
personal grooming and cleanliness,
bed making,
eating and the preparation of food,
assistance with self-administered medications,
toileting,
transferring/ambulating,
laundry, and
household chores outside of the client’s bedroom to meet the
client’s needs. This is:
limited to three hours per week, and
provided when a client lives with family or an able roommate;
2. Social Skills. Social skills may include but are not limited to:
shopping,
community activities,
receptive and expressive communication, and
learning; and
3. Adaptive Skills. Adaptive skills may include but are not limited
to:
mobility, and
decision making
Transportation is included in the rate for residential habilitation
when provided between the client’s:
place of residence and other habilitation sites (day habilitation
sites, volunteer site); and/or
habilitation sites.
