FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Two Weeks Left to See the Historic Scarbrough Building Decked for the
Holidays by Texas School for the Deaf

Austin, Texas December 21, 2007 If you have not seen the windows of
the Scarbrough building decked for the holiday season yet, you will
not want to miss the incredible exhibit of art and history on
display. Students from the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) who have
dressed the windows of the historic Scarbrough building at Sixth
Street and Congress Avenue in downtown Austin, invite you to take a
look.

On exhibit through January 7th, the Scarbrough buildings windows are
adorned with giant multimedia posters, holiday inspired art and video
compilations. Also on display is a hanging photo montage and a giant
Hands mobile, all created by TSD student artists. Featured in the
Sixth Street window is a winterized replica of the schools treasured
Towers building that dominated the Austin skyline from 1877 to 1957.
Each window tells its own story and acquaints onlookers with the
aspiring artists behind the creative works. After seeing the display,
Pat Pound, Executive Director of the Texas Governors Committee on
People with Disabilities, commented &it is fantastic&what a
wonderful Christmas gift TSD has given the city of Austin.

The Sixth Street art deco lobby of the Scarbrough showcases pieces
from TSDs historical exhibit, The Greatest Story Never Heard,
originally on display last year at the Austin Bergstrom International
Airport in honor of the TSDs Sesquicentennial anniversary. Comparing
items then and now from the last 100 years, see the evolution of
educational approaches in the classroom, school uniforms, assistive
technologies and athletics. See how TSD has grown into a leading-edge
institution of learning with a national reputation for excellence in
deaf education.
