Tejas Deaf Seniors Has Moved – DFW

The Tejas Deaf Seniors Club of Dallas has announced with excitement to
move their group to the Deaf Action Center (DAC). It is one of the
largest centers for deaf and hard of hearing in Texas. The move will
be effective on 6th of February 2008 so that it will give senior
citizens an opportunity to participate in the programs being provided
by Deaf Action Center, funded in part by Dallas Area Agency on Aging
(DAAA), Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS)
and United Way.

For the past 20 years, the Tejas Deaf Seniors have met at the Dallas
Association of the Deaf (DAD) once a month for the purpose to play
“500” card game. When the Tejas moves to DAC we will continue to play
card games once a month like the way we did at DAD. The new location
for Tejas is 3115 Crestview Drive, Dallas, Texas 75235.

Deaf Action Senior Center Site Council members is pleased to extend
the invitation to the Tejas group to participate in their weekly
activities that is provided at the center. The goal is to have the
Tejas members and DASC to unite as one senior group to become one of
the largest senior organizations in the state addressing the needs of
older population.

DASC presently has a newsletter but welcomes and needs more
volunteers to provide their input and time to improve the newsletter.
The newsletter will be expanded into a deaf community newsletter,
which is mainly to help inform the people of what’s going on and
what’s happening around the locally, statewide, and nationally.

Anyone who is 50 years of age and up is welcomed to play the “500”
card games and participate in the senior activities. If you are
interested in more information related to “500” card party, please

, and if you would like more information about the senior’s program
you may contact Trina Whitlock at [email protected]

The opening ceremony event will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 6th at 9:30

of the Tejas group’s participation and involvement with the DASC
program and hope that 2008 will be a very productive year with some
