A Message from the DAD President Cathy Edler-Ashley
Hello Members and Friends of DAD:
Happy Leap Day! For those who were born on the 29th of February I
hope that you have a real special birthday treat.
I need to share with you that DAD is closed Feb. 29 and Mar. 1, due
to many of the DAD members attending the Deaf Nation Expo in Austin.
Please spread the words among your friends regarding DAD being closed
this weekend. And if you attend the Deaf Nation Expo please do drive
safely there and back home.
Since we were not able to find anyone to run the DAD kitchen this
year, I am excited to have the DAD committees and a few non-DAD Deaf
organizations willing to do food fundraising during the first and
third Saturdays each month. I am looking forward to seeing some new
faces coming in. Please do check our Kitchen Menu periodically, to
find out what food will be sold and by whom:

It is only a little over three weeks ago when Super Bowl was shown.
Many of us, including myself, missed the Deaf Pepsi-Co commercial
which I learned was broadcasted sometime a bit after 4:00pm. I am
glad we are able to view the Deaf Pepsi-Co commercial via You Tube
website.
Several people in attendance came to listen Social Security Adm #2
Presentation related Medicare. Many had learned new things which will
help their upcoming retirement.
Our DAD Scrapbook Retreat #2 expanded to 14 participates. We had a
wonderful time stampin’ and croppin’ our scrapbooks and/or cards all
day and night without interruptions. It was an awesome opportunity
for some of us to learn new tips and tricks! Many asked me when we
will have another Scrapbook Retreat, I am tentatively looking at the
end of May.
Wednesday night, Ken Brown who is with the Sprint Relay Store
Wireless, gave us a wonderful workshop. We are able to become more
comfortable with our blackberry pagers and also understand better how
our blackberry pager works.

March 7, Friday – Prime Time Sign Time – 8:00pm
March 8, Saturday – TX Hold’em – 4:00pm (food will be sold by the DAD
Parliamentary Procedure committee)
March 14 Friday – General Meeting – 7:30pm
March 15, Saturday – DBDA meeting/workshop – 3:00pm – CINGO – 8:00pm
March 21, Friday – New Senior Citizen Gathering – 7:30pm
March 22, Saturday – Ladies Poker Nite – 7: 00pm

Even though it seems that winter has passed, I still encourage you to
