VSA arts of Texas Receives National Award for Excellence

WASHINGTON, April 21, 2008 – VSA arts of Texas, an Austin nonprofit
organization, received the 2008 National Award for Excellence in
Organizational Management at the VSA arts annual affiliate meeting.
The award cited VSA arts of Texas’ outstanding programming and
business management practices in creating opportunities in the arts
for children and adults with disabilities. VSA arts of Texas is one of
46 national and 55 international VSA affiliates working to promote
participation in the arts and arts education for people with
disabilities. “We are extremely pleased and excited to be recognized
for our efforts here in Texas,” said VSA arts of Texas’ Executive
Director, Celia Hughes, “It’s quite an honor considering the
international scope of VSA arts.” Each year VSA arts of Texas
provides professional development services, arts-based learning
activities in the classroom and community arts programs for more than
25,000 students, teachers, artists with disabilities and community
