Hurry, before it is too late! We only have 3 openings left! If you
have recently graduated and can’t find a good job or you are still
in high school (aged 15 – 21), come improve your communication
skills. It is not the same old school you always knew! We have trips
planned so we can learn in natural settings! We will be giving you
personal attention to make sure you are successful. We have a computer
lab of 6 computers! We will be using games to learn math and work on
fun projects. Call and get more information.
The Deaf Ministry of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas,
Texas is pleased to announce that student applications for the Lovers
Lane Academy for the Deaf (LLAD) are now available for the 2008-2009
school year.
Our goal is to provide, in a Christian faith environment, a bilingual
(ASL and English) education for Deaf teens who are currently
struggling with their language and academic skills.
Our mission is to develop a Deaf teen’s physical, mental, and
spiritual abilities so that he or she can be better equipped to enter
adulthood and enjoy God’s blessings of work, family, community, and
worship.
Our call is from God, who loves each person and desires wholeness for
all people. God calls all people to love one another and Lovers Lane
Academy for the Deaf is a response to God’s call to love Deaf teens.
LLAD is also a response to a felt need in the Deaf community for more
options in Deaf education.
We believe in strengthening family communication, and that parents of
the Deaf are very important in their teen’s education. LLAD will
work with parents so as to develop their teen’s fullest potential.
Through a concentrated program in ASL and English, LLAD students will
learn to more fully express themselves in writing, reading, and
reasoning skills.
We are also pleased to announce the Paul A. Walkup Scholarship Fund
for LLAD students. Applications are available upon request. Students
are welcome regardless of race, economic status, creed, national
origin, or gender. Enrollment size will be limited in order to provide
a small teacher-to-student ratio.
