Teacher Tube and Sign Language Tube

Dear Friends,

TeacherTube is a free website designed after the popular YouTube
where short, educational films can be posted for others to view. I
would like readers to know that the following segments are available
for their use. They are meant to demonstrate the assessment and
practice of basic speech skills in the home, auditory training,
English signing with deaf toddlers and elementary school-aged
children, effective instruction principles, pragmatics challenges when
children are deaf, and normal pragmatic development when children are
deaf and signing. There are also clips of deaf children who are
enrolled in math and science public school classes that could be used
for interpreting practice. All are less than five minutes in length. I
plan to post others in the near future both on TeacherTube and
SIgnLanguageTube. Barbara Luetke, COMS Dept, Texas Woman’s
University, Denton, TX. 76204; 972 943 8572; [email protected]

Mary Pat, 3 years old, and Barb Luetke demonstrate an informal
version of the five sound test to check which sounds the child can
hearing using her binaural hearing aids. MP is able to hear a short a
sound and a long “e” sound consistently. She inconsistently hears
“oo” as in the word “shoe.” Her mother sometimes says a sound
her daughter can hear after one that she can not so she does not
become frustrated. More information on this assessment (which has been
updated to a six sound test, can be found in Chapter 2 of
