Voting Workshop Update – DFW

Update!

Voting Workshop for People with disAbilities

“Local Elections are Important!”

Your vote is your voice. Let it be heard.

The second Voting Workshop for People with disAbilities and Special
Needs is organized to provide information and training for the purpose
of getting more people living with disAbilities and special needs
voting in all elections. Voting is the one communication, which
clearly speaks to representatives and decision makers who develop
policies, which affect our daily lives. Meeting and talking with
representatives and candidates may provide that opportunity needed for
people living with disAbilities and special needs to be included in
budgets and procedures that lead to access to services and jobs,
technologies that improve quality of life, and an infrastructure which
is inclusive and provides access for all.

The May local elections are an opportunity for people living with
disAbilities and special needs to become involved – to vote. In just
Tarrant County, there are 39 entities conducting elections. That
includes 12 school districts and 27 cities. See the Speakers Page at
blog site, http://yourvotecountsp2.wordpress.com, for a list of
representatives and candidates. Some include links to their websites
through which you can contact them. We will do our best to provide
names of candidates in the other cities and school districts and their
websites, if available, in the coming days. We ask that you pass this
information along to people who can benefit from voting training and
attend with them.

The voting workshop is an educational event for everyone. People
living with disAbilities learn about voting. Representatives and
candidates learn about an important constituency. Friends and family
learn how important their support is in this effort. There’s a lot
of learning to go around for every one. Join us.
