Message from DAD President 04/25/09

A MESSAGE FROM THE DAD PRESIDENT:

Hello DAD Members and Friends,

In my last newsletter I neglected to mention that TEJAS donated $280
to DAD in honor of Laura Lemmon-Moore. Laura has dedicated herself to
DAD many times in many different ways and for this we all are deeply
grateful.

I want to share my appreciation to the following volunteers who came
to DAD to replace our old fence, around the patio and in parking lot,
with a beautiful new one. Also this crew of volunteers stripped,
primed, and painted the patio building wall. They are: Anthony Jones,
Preston Ashley, Sr., Mitchel Bien, David Normand, Kent Reneau, Steven
Hoffnagle, Alfredo Gonzales, Wil Monteleone, Dennis Hill, Raul
Espinoza, Jesse Carrizales, Rocky Monada, Andy Beckham, John Alejos, &
Ken Seabolt.

Big thanks also go to Laura Lemmon-Moore for providing lunches, a
couple of times, for the crew and to Maxine Satarino for being the
‘gofer’ for the crew.

Our next project will be to paint the rest of the outside building
walls and put in a new deck and a small roof in the patio. Thanks,
volunteers!

If you would like to also be part of this committee and help with the
patio renovations please do get in touch with me at
[email protected].

This coming Saturday, April 25th, is an all day retreat, CROPPERS &
STAMPERS, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. If interested in participating please
contact Melissa Schiber, host, at [email protected], or
check out the website for more information.

Our next big event is the SWBDA (SOUTHWEST BOWLING DEAF ASSOCIATION)
tournament, April 30, May 1 & 2. The co-chairs are Dee Davis and Ken
Seabolt. Do see our website for more information. We plan to open DAD,
Thursday night, April 30th, for ‘Social Night’. Saturday night,
May 2nd, we will have DADGO, a new game! Do come and join us! We have
a new ‘host’ for DADGO. Come and find out who this new ‘host’
is! FYI: there will not be any food fundraising that night.

As many of you know I have a full time job so at times I’m not
always able to take care of DAD business. I’m grateful to my
officers and board members for taking over the reins when it is
impossible for me to. FYI: I’m usually at DAD, every Friday and
Saturday night. Do come to talk to me if you have any concerns or
issues to share with me or you just want to get to know me better.

Speaking of the officers and board members, all are now bona fide
‘permanent’ members of the Executive Board. The ones who were
temporary have attended our General Members meetings four times, or
more. They all have shown that they are a very dedicated and a great
team. They are always willing to volunteer for duties during the
weekends.

For those of you who haven’t checked out our newly revised DAD
webpage done by our webmaster, Cathy Edler-Ashley, please do take a
look at www.dallasdeafclub.org. She also has added a place for you to
submit your email address if you wish to have subscribe important
announcements which will be sent to your email. Cathy also wants you
to take a moment to visit “Tell Us” page and submit your thoughts
and/or feedbacks.

On March 28th we had two great presentations, both given by VIABLE,
and SORENSON. On May 9th, CSDVRS will give a presentation about
