SECOND ANNUAL RANGER TRIATHLON FOR KIDS, FAMILIES AND ADULTS

AT TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF

Austin, Texas – May 8, 2009 Registration ends Thursday, May 14
online (www.rangertri.com) for the Texas School for the Deaf’s (TSD)
Second Annual Ranger Triathlon — A USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned
event, hosted by TSD and Jack and Adam’s Bicycles at the school’s
south Austin campus at 1102 South Congress.

The event has currently exceeded its participant numbers from 2008
and is closing in on 150 entries. The race is a mini-sprint distance
triathlon designed for the 1st time triathlete, but also challenging
enough for the veteran triathlete.

Kelly Handel, local professional triathlete, will lead a
complimentary triathlon transition for registered participants on
Wednesday, May 13 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at TSD’s softball field.

Final registration will be in person only, on Friday, May 15 from
11:00am to 7:00 pm, at Jack and Adam’s Bicycles, 1210 Barton Springs
Road. All participants must pickup race materials, in person, to
authorize waivers Friday, May 15 at Jack and Adam’s Bicycles. There
will be no late registration or packet pickup on race day.
Registration is open to all participants, age 7 and up, with various
distance courses appropriate for all ages.

Event proceeds will provide needed equipment and program support for
TSD’s Physical Education Programs. The event also promotes the
importance of physical fitness for a healthy lifetime.

TSD’s Ranger Triathlon offers kids, as well as “first-timers”,
the opportunity to experience a multi-sport event in a safe and
positive environment, with the entire course enclosed within TSD’s
gated campus.

While competition is always a part of any race, the main objective of
this event is to promote a healthy, physically fit lifestyle fr the
community to come together and have FUN!

Nick Bannon, Curriculum Specialist at TSD and Ranger Tri Director,
has been working with sponsors and community groups to organize this
second annual event. Bannon says, “TSD is the perfect venue for an
event like this, and we are excited to host this event where community
members have the opportunity to try a sport that is well-known in this
area. And with a fun, safe and enclosed course, children, parents, and
adults can all participate in the race together. “
