CHEF TEAMS WITH TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF FOR THIRD ANNUAL DIAMOND
EVENT
A FUNDRAISER BENEFITING OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING
CHILDREN OF TEXAS
Austin, Texas – May 19, 2009 A number of Hilton staffers are
volunteering their time to contribute to a cause near to the heart of
chef, Mark Dayanandan. Tonight at 6:00 pm, Hilton’s Executive Chef
Dayanandan and his staff, team with the Texas School for the Deaf
(TSD) for a Third Annual Diamond Event. A premier culinary experience,
featuring an exquisite multi-course, wine-paired dinner, prepared and
presented by select TSD student chefs from the school’s culinary
arts program, alongside Dayanandan and the Hilton culinary staff.
Staffers agreed to volunteer their services this year to help keep
costs low so the school could continue to hold the event. Funds raised
help support critical outreach services the school provides statewide
to families, schools and professionals serving deaf and hard of
hearing students.
A partnership with the Hilton Austin was formed in 2007 when TSD met
award winning chef, Mark Dayanandan. Dayanandan had just been named
the Hilton’s Diamond Chef, the highest honor among Hilton chefs
worldwide. Today, Dayanandan and his staff remain loyal and dedicated
supporters of TSD. This annual event is named in honor of
Dayanandan’s Diamond title.

fundraiser benefiting TSD’s outreach programs to deaf and hard of

Media is invited to behind-the-scenes action, with students working
with Hilton chefs preparing for the banquet on Monday, May 18,
12:00-2:00pm.
