Mouth Morphemes: The Overlooked Non-Manual Marker

DATE: June 20, 2009

TIME: 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM

ADDRESS:
Baylor University, Drapper Hall, Room 116
Waco, TX 76798

Mouth Morphemes:

The Overlooked Non-Manual Marker.

BEI and RID .3 CEU’s approved.

Cost: $25.00 TBCD registration fee. Mouthing of words has become so
prevalent due to Total Communication, Transliteration, Signed English,
Pidgen/Contact Language, and mainstreaming of Deaf students that the
Mouth Morphemes are falling out of use (even among Deaf people) and
are not being recognized or used by interpreters. Unfortunately, sign
language classes and ITPs are barely touching on this subject, if
mentioning it at all. This workshop is to (re)introduce the use of
“ASL mouthing.” Presenter: Bill Green.

Presented by Texas Association of Southern Baptist for the Deaf
(TASBID) and Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT).
