Story: Chicago 1930’s
GLORIA, deaf bookkeeper is in search for a job.
The Mafia, hounded by the FBI and Police, are becoming smart. They have
decided that the way to hide their rackets of illigel booze, prostitution,
gambling… is to hire a DEAF BOOKKEEPER!
But GLORIA who is kind and intelligent and proud, can see through their lies
and sleaze. She has the gall to TURN THUMBS DOWN on the Mafia offer.
GLORIA disappears and hides in the DEAF COMMUNITY.
The Mafia is FURIOUS! The chase is on.
Panic and cold fear grip Chicago.
