The Speaker
Brian Determan, an ASL-native deaf individual, serves as a Deafness Resource
Specialist with Communication Axess Ability Group for Houston and
surrounding counties. The Deafness Resource program is funded by TX DARS
(Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services) – Office for Deaf and
Hard of Hearing Services. Brian works with agencies and service providers
regarding their access obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act
and the Rehabilitation Act. His training will empower deaf or hard of
hearing individuals with knowledge of their civil rights and how to
self-advocate.
Accommodations for participants such as real time captioning (C.A.R.T.) or
sign to voice interpreter services must be requested by Wednesday, November
