Transportation Workshops and Public Meetings

North Texans will have several opportunities in December to learn about
transportation projects in the region and share opinions about the
development of future transportation plans.
During interactive workshops for Mobility 2035, the next comprehensive
long-term term plan for meeting transportation needs through the next 25
years, residents will be invited to help establish a vision for the future
of transportation in the region. The plan must be financially constrained;
therefore, only projects for which the region expects to receive funding can
be included.
Workshop discussion will address:
– Transportation needs.
– Transportation funding scenarios and options.
– The relationship between population growth and transportation.
– The relationship between transportation and the environment.
– Priorities for the transportation plan.
At four public meetings, one of which will be an interactive webcast
viewing, transportation planners will seek input on proposed revisions to
the Public Participation Plan, which outlines how an open exchange of ideas
and information is encouraged. Proposed revisions address the growing
region, changing communications and suggestions received at previous public
meetings.
Additionally, proposed modifications to the comprehensive list of funded
transportation projects will be presented at public meetings. Projects with
funding from local, state and federal sources are listed in the
Transportation Improvement Program. The list is updated regularly to
maintain accuracy. Planners will also provide an update on projects with
funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Finally,
staff will provide an update on efforts to secure desperately needed funding
for transportation projects and outline various potential revenue scenarios
and related transportation effects.
