Need Help for Deaf Dane Dog

Good afternoon

My name is Judy Jones and I am the Co-Founder of the Great Dane Rescue of
Southeast Texas. We take in great danes, rehab them mentally and physically
and match them to appropriate forever homes. We officially started our
rescue on 02/24/09. We are a new organization and are just getting our feet
wet so to speak.

We have taken in a deaf 15-18 month old male dane from the kill shelter. He
is a wonderful boy and is a charmer. We have helped him develop some skills
by using our personal dogs to help him take the cue of when to come in, go
out, etc. His name is Dock and he has come a long way from the 5 months ago
when we picked him up. His previous owners either didn’t realize he was deaf
or didn’t care. Dock was very hand shy so we felt certain that he was beaten
for not “listening” and he was crated for long periods. We know this because
his muscle mass was very lean.

Right now we need to move forward with Dock to the next level of his deaf
training. Unfortunately we do not have the expertise in our foster homes to
do that. I am seeking a training school that our foster parent and Dock can
attend to help him move forward so we can adopt him to a great home. I was
hoping that you or your organization might have some contacts that we could
use to help us train Dock.

Any help or advice you can give us in order to help Dock would be greatly
appreciated.

Sincerely,
Judy Jones Co-Founder
