Community Outreach Request for Interpreters – Houston
Wanted: Qualified Interpreters who are willing and able to donate some time
to a good cause. Please see the email below my signature, and the attached
flier about two Hurricane Recovery events that have been specifically
planned to reach out to Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. The two
events are scheduled for Friday afternoons & evenings and Saturdays, March
19 – 20 (at Woodhaven Baptist Deaf Church in Houston) and March 26-27 (at
the Baytown Community Center).
The agencies sponsoring this event have arranged for several certified
interpreters to be present, but no one is sure how great the need will be
for interpreters on the days of these events. There will be an exhibit area
with vendors and exhibitors where they would like to have plenty of
qualified interpreters assisting with communication and providing a
welcoming environment to individuals that arrive at the event.
If you are willing and able to donate some time interpreting at either of
the events listed on the attached flier, your assistance will be greatly
appreciated. If you plan to attend, or would like more information, please
contact Yesenia Castillo, Outreach Coordinator of Neighborhood Centers, Inc.
at [email protected], 713-491-6154 X 340 or 713-806-9647.
Neighborhood Centers will gladly acknowledge your “in kind donation” of your
time and services with a letter verifying the hours of your participation.
