TSD Wrestling Team Honoring
The students of Texas School for the Deaf at Austin, TX celebrated in a new
fashion that the committee of the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic
Association (NDIAA) has voted Texas School for the Deaf as the “National
Wrestling Co-Championship Team” along with Maryland School for the Deaf.
TSD and MSSD are the large deaf schools for the enrollment of students in
the United States.
The committee is comprised of coaches and athletic directors from the deaf
schools in America.
Phenomenal Brian Laird who is a young terrific deaf coach that has led his
wrestling team to the national level power and also being recognized by the
Texas TAPPS as a classic team. The NDIAA committee has voted Laird to
receive an award of “National Coach of the Year 2010”.
152-lb. wrestler Adrian Barajas of TSD has been named by the NDIAA one of
the best wrestlers in America and will receive a “National Wrestler of the
Year” award.
Let every one of us in Texas applaud the deaf wrestling team and Coach Laird
for their most remarkable athletic program TSD has ever had.
