Riding the Wave of Change
ADARA 2011 National Conference

Plans are proceeding with the ADARA 2011 Riding the Wave of Change
conference on April 13-16 at the San Diego Marriott Mission Valley Hotel.
Pre-conference sessions will be held on Wednesday, April 13th, with the
opening keynote session on Thursday morning, April 14th. The conference
will conclude on Saturday afternoon (April 16th).

Hotel rooms are available for $135.00 and room reservation information is
available on the ADARA website- http://www.adara.org.

Two pre-conferences are currently planned (sessions will be held from 9:00
am to 4:30 pm):

* Play Therapy with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children presented by Alexis
Greeves.
* Become a Stronger Advocate for Your Communication Access presented by
Pauline Annarino and Lillian Garcia Peterkin.

Dr. Alan Hurwitz, President of Gallaudet University will be the opening
keynote speaker. Dr. Hurwitz will share his vision related to Gallaudet
University pertaining to future jobs for Gallaudet graduates and how
Gallaudet can collaborate with ADARA members to provide effective services
for deaf and hard of hearing persons.

Two plenary sessions have been planned to conclude the conference on
Saturday:

Irene Leigh from Gallaudet University and Rose Marie Toscano from National
Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) will discuss the new National Task
Force on Health Care Careers for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Persons. They
will be sharing information on the purpose and goals of the task force.

Mark Seeger of CSD will be sharing information on Video Remote Interpreting
(VRI) and how ADARA members may be able to make better use of this service
to save time and expense.

Conference workshops are being selected and finalized in the next week.
More details on the pre-conference workshops, announcements of the
conference workshops and more details on the closing plenary sessions as
well as the registration form will be available on the ADARA website –
www.adara.org soon after Labor Day. People may register by mail, if paying
cash, check or purchase order. Credit card registrations must be done
through Paypal on the ADARA web site which will available later in the year.

ADARA will be applying for CEUs from CRCC, NASW, NCC and RID once the
complete program is finalized.
