Thank you for saving the date! Here is additional information as follow-up

unique opportunity for Fort Worth Police and Fire Departments and the deaf

relationship that benefits the community and the City. We hope that what we
learn will also benefit our neighbors.

In the Morning –
* We will learn about Fort Worth Police and Fire Departments from Traffic to
Fire Safety to SWAT to Gang Unit to Explorers for teens, programs for adults
and Victims Assistance.
* We will see Police and Fire demonstrations and a Police Cruiser and Fire
Engine up close.

During Lunch –
* We can sit and talk with police officers and fire personnel and get to
know them, and
* They can get to know members of the deaf and hard of hearing community.

In the Afternoon –
* We will join Chief Jeffrey Halstead in a meaningful discussion during the
first Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community Forum. You are encouraged to share

Crime Prevention, Safety Fair & Community Forum – Saturday, November 13,
2010 – 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Fort Worth, Texas

Background: In 2008 residents of Fort Worth gathered at “Let’s Talk Fort
Worth” to share their concerns and suggestions for “A Most Livable City.” In
the spirit of this honorable goal, the City of Fort Worth is taking steps to
improve access to City government for the cross disability community,
including the deaf and hard of hearing community and those whose primary
language is American Sign Language (ASL). “A Most Livable City” enables
residents to participate, contribute, and enjoy access to businesses and
services and to enjoy one another as neighbors. Our goal is for businesses,
non-pro?ts and organizations across industries and government entities to
model the City of Fort Worth’s example as they conduct business in Fort
Worth. It is in this spirit that I ask for your support and participation in
the Crime Prevention, Safety Fair and Community Forum for the Deaf and Hard
of Hearing Community. Also, with much appreciation to Fort Worth Police and
Fire Departments for organizing the Fair and Forum and to Sergeant Laura
Klein for bringing it all together.

Tracey Michol, Commissioner
Human Relations Commission
City of Fort Worth

with disabilities who plan to attend this meeting and who may need
accommodations, auxiliary aids, or services such as interpreters, readers,

to the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made. If the City
does not receive notification at least 48 hours prior to the meeting, the
City will make a reasonable attempt to provide the necessary accommodations.
