FEMA Administrators to Keynote at TDI Conference

CEPIN’s parent organization, Telecommunications for the Deaf and Hard of
Hearing, Inc. (TDI) is proud to announce that W. Craig Fugate and Marcie
Roth will keynote the afternoon portion of TDI’s conference on Thursday,
June 2nd. They will be talking about FEMA’s commitment to ensuring people
with disabilities are included in all steps of the emergency planning and
preparedness process. Administrator Fugate will address the conference via
video while Ms. Roth will speak at the conference in person.

Craig Fugate, FEMA Administrator

As Administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Mr. Fugate has
led the agency in responding to numerous disasters including the recent
tornado outbreaks in the South. Administrator Fugate has also completely
revamped the way the agency looks at the disability community and is pushing
for inclusion into the overall plan rather than creating separate plans or
annexes.

Marcie Roth, Director of Disability Integration and Coordination, FEMA

Marcie Roth was appointed by President Obama in June 2009 to be the Senior
Advisor on Disability Issues for FEMA. Once at FEMA, she developed the new
Office of Disability Integration and Coordination, where she now serves as
Director. In this role, she leads the Agency’s commitment to meet the access
and functional needs of children and adults with disabilities in emergency
and disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.
