MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Corpus Christi Area Council for the Deaf Inc., doing
business as The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center subsequently referred to as
“the Center’, is to alleviate communication barriers and to strive for equal
access for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

OBJECTIVES
The Center shall be an advocate for people of all ages who are deaf or hard
of hearing to enable them to express their freedoms, participate in society
to their individual potential, and reduce their isolation regardless of
location, socio-economic status, or degree of disability.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Executive Director serves as chief administrative officer of the Center
and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of The Center under the
direct guidance of the Board of Trustees.

The Executive Director is responsible for:

1. Fiscal Integrity
a. Oversees the financial affairs of the Center and ensures execution of the
annual budget. Monitors expenditures of all programs, grants and contracts.
b. Reports financial standing to the Board accurately and promptly as
required.
c. Directs procedures for the keeping of records and files to meet the
reporting requirements of grants and contracts.

2. Staff Management and Development
a. Hires and manages staff and provides for on-going staff and board
development.
b. Fosters teamwork and cooperation among staff, boards and volunteers.
c. Evaluates staff effectiveness in administering the Center’s strategic
plan.
d. Ensures that all programs, new and established, are stable with
measurable outcomes and are of high quality.

3. Program Development

a. Reflects agency’s mission through planning and developing unique
programmatic efforts in response to needs of people who are deaf or hard of
hearing.
b. Communicates a timely flow of program information between staff, boards
and the community.
c. Evaluates programs for efficiency.

4. Public Relations

a. Maintains the credibility and reputation of the Center.
b. Maintains a positive and amicable relationship with city, county and
state officials.
c. Provides outreach to promote the Center to increase awareness of the
organization and the needs of people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
d. Demonstrates effective networking throughout the deaf and hard of hearing
community service area, the state and nation.

5. Resource Development

a. Initiates and facilitates securing a broad base of financial support to
fund the Center’s budget.
b. Assists in grant writing and manages state, federal and private grants.

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree required and five (5) years of business management
required or ten (10) years business managerial experience.
Non-Profit experience preferred but not required.
Knowledge of Deaf Culture and programs for people who are Deaf or Hard of
Hearing preferred but not required.
Leadership qualities and experience.
Budget and financial experience.
Marketing and fund raising experience.
Effective written and oral communication.
Computer literacy.
Salary negotiable, dependent upon qualifications.
