THE HAMMER – Open Captioned Film – Starring Deaf Actors Opens in Texas on October 27, 2011
My name is Tal Levitas and I am part of the team working on the new
open-captioned film called THE HAMMER that will be in theaters in Texas on
Thursday, October 27, and on Wednesday, November 2nd.
The movie tells the inspirational story of deaf wrestler Matt Hamill and how
he persevered to become the first Deaf NCAA champion in wrestling. The
movie is in English and ASL and is completely OPEN CAPTIONED so that Deaf
and hearing audiences can enjoy it together in the theater.
The movie stars deaf actors Russell Harvard and Shoshannah Stern and has
been praised by Marlee Matlin and Gallaudet president Alan Hurwitz. It is
rated PG-13 and is family friendly for older kids and young adults.
