A deaf and potentially intoxicated Orange man was arrested early Monday
morning after witnesses reported him pulling out a gun in the residence
that also contained four children and five other adults.
The 34-year-old was jailed on charges of being a felon in possession of
a firearm.
Officers say they were called to the house on Bob Hall Road at about
3:30 a.m. regarding an intoxicated man with a gun, according to reports
from the Orange Police Department. At the home, reports also state,
they found the man in the kitchen, but did not observe a gun in either
hand. After he was handcuffed, police report finding a loaded 9 mm
handgun in the front waistband of the man’s pants.
Officers claim they smelled alcohol on the man. They had difficulty
getting statements from him, however, because of his inability to
verbally communicate.
Having been charged with aggravated assault in 2002, the
previously-convicted felon was arrested on charges of unlawful
possession of a firearm.
