Deaf Self-Advocacy Training – El Paso
We are inviting all Deaf and Hard of Hearing to attend a Deaf Self-Advocacy Training (DSAT)-El Paso, TX. This training is for people who are deaf/hard of hearing and use sign language for effective communication. Participants will learn how to advocate for themselves using laws as the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and how to advocate for communication access services such as requesting a sign language interpreter and more.
Training is limited to 10 participants, first come – first served!!!
Trainers: Susana Santillan, Deafness Resource Specialist, CSD of Texas (funded by DARS/Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) and Tim Hanson, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, DARS/Division for Rehabilitation Services
This is 2-day training, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. You must be able to attend both days, Wednesday-Thursday, May 16-17, 2012. Training will take place at El Paso Community College.
