The 6th Annual Diamond Chefs Gala – Boots & Bling

May 15, 2012 at the Hilton-Austin

Austin, Texas – MAY 15, 2012 Kick Up Your Heels and join the Texas School for the Deaf Foundation’s “Boots & Bling” themed celebration – The 6th Annual Diamond Chefs Gala, featuring the talents of Texas’ deaf and hard of hearing students, May 15, 2012 at the Hilton-Austin.

For the sixth year, the Diamond Chefs Gala features Texas School for the Deaf’s (TSD) Culinary Arts students – under the direction of the Hilton’s Diamond Chef and executive staff – for a dazzling, four-course event, complete with wine-pairings, entertainment, silent and live auctions, dancing and FUN! The evening showcases Texas’ deaf and hard of hearing children and pays tribute to the school’s loyal supporters, including the Hilton-Austin for its long-term partnership with the school and the entire, dedicated Hilton staff – who all volunteer to work with the students for the annual event.

Sponsored by the TSD Foundation – whose mission is to help TSD better support and reach all deaf and hard of hearing students of Texas – gala proceeds will allow TSD to:

* Meet the needs of increased numbers of deaf and hard of hearing students with additional disabilities,

* Bring current technology into the classroom,

* Support children and families across the state,

* Give more deaf and hard of hearing babies the early language tools they need to be successful learners.

With the belief that each child’s success can only be achieved as a shared responsibility, TSD partners with families, schools and communities – all working together – to ensure students achieve their greatest potential. Through partnerships and donor support, the TSD Foundation works to assist TSD to balance the impact of increasing demands from children and families, amidst funding cuts and stretched resources.

Deafness is not about the inability to hear, it’s about the lack of access to language. With over 90% of all deaf children born to hearing parents, significant language delays are often caused by lack of access to language. Kick Up Your Heels, join TSD and the TSD Foundation, in our crusade to bring access to language, literacy and education to all deaf and hard of hearing children in Texas.
