FOR RELEASE JUNE 2, 2012
BENEFIT CONCERT SUPPORTS STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
LIVE MUSIC FOR A GOOD CAUSE – JUNE 2
Austin, Texas – June 2, 2012 Tonight, SND Rocks – The 4th Annual Live Music Benefit for the Texas School for the Deaf’s (TSD) Special Needs Department (SND), sponsored by Jovita’s – brings music and fun for a great cause, starting at 7:30 pm.
Tonight’s event includes a plant sale and silent auction featuring items donated by local supporters such as James Avery Jewelry, Moonshine Bar & Grill, Whole Earth Provision Co., Becker Vineyards and more.
Proceeds provide specialized classroom tools and equipment for TSD’s SND students.
A unique program in the continuum of services provided by the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD), the Special Needs Department (SND) educates and nurtures students from all over Texas who are not only deaf or hard of hearing, but have additional cognitive and/or developmental challenges. This event supports these “fighters and survivors” by providing critical tools and equipment needed in SND classrooms at TSD.
A musician himself, TSD’s Assistant Principal of SND – Robert Solis, invites everyone to come out to enjoy great music at a great Austin venue in support of a very worthy cause.
“This is a really special event to me, says Solis. Several of the musicians have participated with us each year. Many have connections to TSD as well. We’re all friends, or friends of friends, who just enjoy getting together to do this to be part of a great cause.” Solis will kick things off with his band, Mad Squirrel, at 8:00 pm.
