FOR RELEASE AUGUST 31, 2012

AUTHENTIC FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF vs. CALIFORNIA SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF-FREMONT

KICK-OFF 7:00pm FRIDAY AUGUST 31

Austin, Texas – August 31, 2012 Today, the Texas School for the Deaf
(TSD) Rangers face off against the Eagles from California School for
the Deaf-Fremont (CSD-F). Kickoff is at 7:00 pm at TSD’s Gamblin Field
– 1102 South Congress Avenue.

Though you will not have the half-time marching bands, if you have not
seen the TSD Rangers in action, this is a unique opportunity to see two
teams – consisting of players and coaches who are all deaf or hard of
hearing – compete against each other. It’s no surprise that tonight’s
game is creating quite a buzz.

“This game is one of the several important games for us this season,
says TSD’s Head Coach, Kelvin Etkie.

“We are thrilled to have CSD-F come out at the start of the season,
adds Etkie. Our hats are off to CSD-F for making this happen. We
certainly know how hard it is to travel out of state the first week of
school. We will return the favor next year and visit there to play on
their home turf in 2014.”

“We are truly thrilled about this authentic ‘Friday Night Lights’ game
– Texas style, adds CSD-F Head Coach, Warren Keller. If the
anticipation among Deaf schools across the country is any indication,
we’ll see some real excitement, on and off the field.”
