Nominations for 2013 Lex Frieden Employment Awards
Office of the Governor Rick Perry – Committee on People with Disabilities
It’s time to submit nominations for our 2013 Lex Frieden Employment Awards (LFEA). Deadline for submissions is June 30. Consider employers, entrepreneurs, professionals in the field of disabilities, and local committees in your community who deserve recognition and kudos for their Above and Beyond work in hiring and retaining employees with disabilities and in efforts to raise awareness of the positive impacts of doing so. There is NO FEE for entries.

There are several categories: Large, Medium, Small, and Non-Profit Employer; Entrepreneurship; Martha Arbuckle Award for a local committee project; and the highest honor of all, The Governor’s Trophy. Read more about the descriptions of each category and think who in your community deserves the spotlight! For the Employer awards, we suggest that you either contact the employer and ask that they self-nominate, or that you submit the basic nomination form, which we then use to contact the employer and ask for more details on their hiring and retaining practices.
We also have a document on our LFEA page called Above and Beyond: Employment Practices that you can download from our website and distribute to local businesses and organizations.

Many thanks for all you do for your community and for helping us find the very best employers, individuals and committees to spotlight with this annual award. And mark your calendar for the Lex Frieden Employment Awards ceremony to take place on Friday, October 18, lunchtime, in Waco, hosted by the Waco Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities. Details will come soon.
