From Hearing to Deaf on the Mission Field
Jane Ramsey, a missionary currently living in Spokane, Washington, will be our guest speaker at the Deaf Fellowship of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, Dallas, Texas on Sunday, November 17 at 9am in the Christ Family Center room 103/105. Jane will share her experiences in Asia when she and her family moved to China to teach English in 1985.
For 20 years, they lived in five cities in China and in Hong Kong. They witnessed China's transformation from a poor, third-world country to becoming a world leader.
While in China, Jane became deaf on the mission field and 'backed into' Deaf ministry. Now she is an advocate for the Deaf and disabled in China and for a Deaf school in the Dominican Republic.
Jane will show a short video on the work in China and have a display of items made by Chinese Deaf workers.
Voice and sign language interpretation will be provided, along with light refreshments. The presentation will end at 10:30am and all are invited to attend one of our two interpreted worship services at 10:50am in the Sanctuary (traditional) or the CrossWalk contemporary service in Asbury Hall.
