Job Opportunity: SEEDS is looking for a Development Director – DFW
SEEDS (Serving and Educating Exceptional Deaf Students) is a nonprofit serving students who are deaf/hard of hearing. We are searching for a Development Director’ to work with us in raising money. The director will be responsible for creating and implementing a development plan that details how the organization solicits donors and identifies funding sources such as grants, in-kind donations, charitable events and marketing opportunities. The Development Director will share his/her development plans with the organization leadership and the board of directors. In addition, the development director spends time personally soliciting donors.
Candidates should expect to create marketing materials, social media and advertising campaigns, and newsletters as part of a public relations strategy. The Development Director should focus on a strategy that expands the target audience through community relations, speaking engagements, newsletters and charitable events.

Major Responsibilities
? Donor Development
? Develop and maintain communication and growth plan for current and prospective donors in alignment with SEEDS’ missions and goals
? Build and maintain relationships with individual donors and with the community, educating them on SEEDS’ programs
? Produce quarterly newsletters on SEEDS’ activities
? Maintain documentation on all gifts and contacts
? Acknowledge all gifts in a timely manner
? Grant Management
? Research and identify funding opportunities in alignment with SEEDS’ missions and goals
? Prepare and submit quality grant proposals/requests to fund SEEDS’ mission
? Build and maintain relationships with corporate and foundation staff members, educating them on SEEDS’ programs
? Provide timely acknowledgement and reporting in compliance with all grant requirements
? Maintain documentation on all grants proposals, award reports and contacts
? Event and Fundraising Coordination
? Create and execute planning for all events and fundraisers
? Recruit and manage volunteers to support events and fundraisers
? Solicit and secure sponsorships for events
? General
? Leverage communication platforms to build community and media awareness.
? Serve as organization’s spokesperson to a variety of audiences including, but not limited to, media and the community.
? Recommend short and long range fund development that supports the organization’s values and mission.
? Increase awareness of SEEDS and the need to support its mission
? Provide reporting as required
? Maintain and promote social media and SEEDS Website
? Create and update material to support the development plan
? Maintain donor database
Experience
? At least five years of experience in nonprofit fund development
? Proven results in working with foundations, corporations and individual donors
? Experience in managing details for large events
? Database management experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, marketing, and/or nonprofit leadership; additional education a plus
