DALLAS – A teenage girl who claimed to be the victim of a sexual assault at a southwest Dallas park has recanted her story, police said.
A 14-year-old girl told police she was approached by a man wearing a ski mask after getting off the school bus at 500 8th Street on Dec. 10. She said the man grabbed her by the arm and forced her to walk three blocks to Lake Cliff Park, where he sexually assaulted her.
She reported the incident to police the next day.
“Detectives have determined that the incident did not take place as reported,” according to a bulletin sent by Dallas Police Thursday.
Police added that there is no risk to the public in connection to the described incident.
The girl, who is deaf, was interviewed by detectives on Tuesday. A community bulletin was released Wednesday before the girl recanted her story.
