The Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities (GCPD) is seeking qualified applicants to fill the vacant accessibility and disability rights coordinator position, job #: 2016-29.

Location: Austin, Texas

Summary of job functions:

The accessibility and disability rights coordinator reports to the executive director in the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities Division and provides senior-level consultative and technical assistance work to governmental entities about accessibility and disability rights laws. The program specialist maintains current information regarding state and federal regulations as well as best practices concerning the rights of persons with disabilities and accessibility. Gathers, analyzes and concisely summarizes and reports information regarding accessibility and disability rights and related laws. Develops and produces informational handouts, brochures and other written content. Actively tracks and reports on legislation and industry trends. Writes, delivers and/or prepares well-researched speeches on complex disabilities laws, issues, programs and trends. Effectively interacts with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinators, businesses, governmental entities and the general public as required to accomplish the goals and objectives of this position. Works closely with other Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities programs. Demonstrates computer proficiency relative to all assigned responsibilities. Performs all other duties as assigned.
