Mental Health Interpreter Training

The purpose of the Texas Initiative for Mental of Deaf Youth is to raise awareness of the mental health needs of deaf youth, and the unique challenges of assessing and responding to those needs. This specialized track within this initiative will address the professional development needs of sign language interpreters who are an essential member of the mental health team when working with youth in a number of settings.
Participation in this strand of training is geared towards interpreters serving Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students in educational setting.
This workshop will be held August 12-13, 2016 at Texas School for the Deaf.
Participants have the option of staying in a TSD dormitory at no cost during the duration of the training (check-in: August 11, check-out August 13). Alternatively, participants may choose to arrange nearby accommodations at their own expense.
Lunch is included with the registration fee, along with light breakfast items. Dinner will be at the discretion of the participant.
