North Central Texas Interpreters for the Deaf
“Behind that Like Button” Workshop
Presented by Heather Hughes and Topher Gonzales, CDI
October 22, 2016, 9:00am-12:00pm
Social Media has forever changed the way we interact with the world around us, allowing us to connect with like-minded individuals, as well as challenge the personal thoughts and beliefs of our own and others. In today’s politically charged culture, the breadth of ideas, opinions, and observations can become emotional and personal very quickly.
In this workshop, participants will discuss balancing personal freedom of expression with mitigating the perceptions our social media interactions will create amongst our consumers. Participants will look not only at the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct, but will view examples of recent social media posts and weigh the impact of those posts against the trust placed on interpreters by consumers.
Location:
Cathedral of Hope
