Advocacy Support and Training 8/4/17 – Austin

ASTra training has arrived in Texas!!

Advocacy Support and Training (ASTra) is a Hands & Voices program focused on the educational needs unique to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Within this program, trainings are offered that are developed for parents, but open to all! CEUs are available.

Texas Hands & Voices is offering an ASTra training (Level 1) on August 4th in Austin, TX. The cost is $42 and includes the Educational Advocacy Handbook (a $35 value) and lunch. Level 1 training includes an introduction to Special Education Law, an overview of IDEA Special Considerations for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, Eligibility, Procedural Safeguards, Assessment and Evaluation, and IEP components and planning.

* Parents of children who are D/deaf, hard of hearing or DeafBlind, Deaf Education professionals, D/HH community members, and other passionate individuals interested in special education law. This training is for you!

* This training will cover the IEP process, Federal Law (IDEA), eligibility issues, procedural safeguards and more!
* This training has been approved for 7.75 hours of State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit by the Education Service Center Region 11, the CPE provider.

This training is offered in partnership with Education Service Center 11 and TSBVI
