FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Upgraded and Modernized

Still Here for Texas Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students, Their Families and Professionals with Quality Resources and Support

Austin, Texas – May 19, 2020 – After many years, what has been known as the Educational Resource Center on Deafness (ERCOD) at Texas School for the Deaf (TSD), announces an exciting change. Rolling out a new name and new logo, ERCOD is now the Statewide Outreach Center (SOC) at TSD.

Following months of hard work, paying attention to stakeholders and digging deeply, it was evident an upgrade was needed.

SOC Director, Dr. Bobbie Beth Scoggins, says “for resources for Texas’ Deaf Education community, it is now easier for families, professionals and students to get what they need with streamlined online and social media platforms.”

“With an increasingly important role in Deaf Education, TSD Superintendent, Claire Bugen says, the SOC is scaling up to reach more of the community now teaching and learning remotely all across the state, and beyond.”

Since established in 1989, quality resources, information and a network of support for families and professionals remain at the forefront of the Statewide Outreach Center’s mission.

Take a look at the SOC’s revamped website as well. With recent coronavirus concerns keeping students at home, away from school and off of their usual routines, new resources are continuously being added to help families and professionals keep students on track.
