MAKING NEW FRIENDS
HOLIDAY PARTY BRINGS CENTRAL TEXAS DEAF CHILDREN TOGETHER

Thursday, December 8, 2022

Austin, Texas – December 8, 2022 Thanks to the use of video technology, each week from the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD), 51 classrooms across Texas are connected with American Sign Language (ASL) storytellers from TSD’s Statewide Outreach Center’s distance learning studio, who make reading come alive for students who are deaf and hard or hearing.

Today, around 50 students from the central Texas area, including Hays, Round Rock, and Bastrop ISDs, meet their ASL teachers in person for the first time, and meet new friends at the ASL storytelling holiday party.

A celebration of togetherness, students will have a pizza party, play ASL games, enjoy live ASL Stories, and get a special visit from Signing Santa Claus.
