NEWS FROM THE DAD PRESIDENT:

Hello Dallas and Ft. Worth friends!

We, the Dallas Association of the Deaf (DAD) officers and members, are having some exciting entertainment going on this coming weekend!

Friday, March 2, 8:00-10:00pm – Prime Time, Sign Time (PTST)
Saturday, March 3, 1:00-2:30pm – United We Stand, GUAA/DFW Chapter
Saturday, March 3, 3:30pm – North Texas Deaf Poker Tournament

Friday, March 2, 8:00-10:00pm – Prime Time, Sign Time (PTST)
Are you just learning ASL?
Are you an intermediate ASL user?
Are you planning on becoming an Interpreter?
Are you an ASL expert?

Friday night PTST is open to any and everyone (minors welcome!) who wants to learn more about our language or just to refresh about our language; as well as, sharing ASL with us!

We will have ASL storytelling, jokes, skits and play some games.
Come and have some fun!! (Psssss, hey, students, know what the best part of this is? No class lectures nor any grading stuff!!!)

Admission fee: members, free; non-members $3.00 and children under 14 free.

OPEN to the PUBLIC!!! No admission fee

UNITED WE STAND: GALLAUDET UNIVERSITY AND THE ALUMNI

The GUAA – DFW Chapter proudly present Sam Sonnenstrahl 79 & G-84 who is also currently the Director of the Alumni Relations and Executive Director of GUAA at Gallaudet University.

Sam will share with the audience the latest improvements/renovations on campus; i.e., ‘the Ole Jim’.

He will also share briefly of what he knows has happened during the protest, at Gallaudet University, last fall.
And there will be a question and answer session after Sam’s presentation.

Please do come and hear Sam’s presentation about Gallaudet! FYI: voice interpreting will not be provided.

FYI: DAD will begin selling lunch at noon at $5.00 per plate. Desserts: 50 cents each.

Saturday, March 3, 3:30pm – North Texas Deaf Poker Tournament
FYI: this event will be held at DAD, each month, until the end of June 2007.

8 out of 100 players, who have earned the most points, will enter the final tournament in July, 2007, to determine who will win the North Texas Deaf Poker Championship.

It will be your great challenge to grab your highest-making points for this classic event!

The competition begins at 4 p.m., no exceptions and no holding a seat(s) for your friends!
Entry Fee: $20.00 per member and $23.00 per non-member.
Number of participants is limited to 80.
Hearing individuals, with sign language fluency, are welcome to participate.

Sign-Up is at 2:30 p.m. Explanation of rules and seating assignments will occur then.

Come and sign-up for this classic tournament and you will have a chance to go home as a winner!!

Fans: $2.00 per member and $3.00 per non-member.

Fantastic and fabulous foods, drinks, and desserts will be sold.
