October TCD Newsletter

Texoma Council for the Deaf Newsletter
Sherman/Denison, Texas
October 2007

We would like to wish you all a Happy Halloween and remind you that you need to change the time due to daylight savings time on November 4th. Fall is coming and we started to see the leaves turn the color. It is about time to get cool. Hope the children enjoy going out on trick or treat in the neighborhoods. Be prepared to keep yourself warm.

Our Social Night, Sport Day, has some new faces. Bad news was that Texas Longhorns lost to OU.

Our Social Night, Halloween Party, was the best we ever had with a big crowd. We had a blast at the new location. Adults and kids really enjoyed playing games. A few of people made very nice comments about the new location. Everyone really like the new location providing drinks, foods and is very roomy. We had some judges, who didn’t wear costume, choose the winners for the Best Halloween Costumes. Third place winner was Mary Figueroa as Nurse, who received the Ritzy’s for 2-dinner gift certificate; Second place winner was Beverly Cruzan as a Witch, who received a $25 Solar Nails Spa gift certificate; and First place winner was Yolanda Stockton as a Pirate, who received a complimentary one-night stay at LaQuinta Hotel. Craig Hoersten’s daughter Naomi as a Witch was chosen to be the best Halloween costume for the children and received a First place trophy. Second place winner was Serenity, Naomi’s friend as a Devil and Third place winner was J’Bray as a Spiderman for the best Halloween costume for the children. Congratulations to the winners. We thank the judges for doing the voting on the best costumes. Javier and his wife, Betty, won the balloon game and received a 2-Burger Contact Grill. Ronald Anderson won the door prize and received a Spring Creek Restaurant gift certificate. WOW! We are very pleased about that.

We added ASL Sign Language class to our website starting on November 5th. Please be sure to check out the website for ASL Sign Class, print the registration form and fill it out.

We have added more new members. We would like to take a moment and welcome our newest members.
