Considerations When Providing Communication Access for Persons Who are Deaf
and Hard of Hearing

Join us Tuesday, June 29th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Winters
Building, 701 W. 51st Street, Room 125 C,E,W for this ADA Round Table Event.

The Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities, along with
partners from the City of Austin and other state agencies, are instituting
what we call “ADA Roundtables.” Each bi-monthly event will consist of two 45
minute talks separated by a 30 minute break for networking. Topics will be
related to a wide range of disability issues in Texas. Invitees include
ADA Coordinators of city, county, state government, others who work with
people with disabilities, and the general public. Please distribute this
announcement widely.

For this Roundtable, Doug H. Dittfurth, Outreach Development Specialist,
DARS/Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services, will present,
“Considerations When Providing Communication Access for Persons Who are
Deaf and Hard of Hearing.” This material includes information on:

* Type of Environment
* Preferred Mode of Communication and Requested Accommodation
* Interpreter
* Speech-to-Text
* Telephone Communication
* Meeting Announcements

There will be time to network with colleagues between sessions, and a
question and answer period during the second 45 minute session. We invite
you to attend, and to distribute this email widely.
