Barbara Jordan Media Award winners

 Barbara Jordan Media Award winners

This year’s winners of the Barbara Jordan Media Awards have really raised the bar of excellence; we saw some incredible entries come from the submissions –

stories from professionals (and students) that meet the highest criteria of accurately and positively reporting on individuals with disabilities, using People First language and respectful depictions.

You can read more about the Barbara Jordan Media Awards and the Awards Ceremony on our website. For individual tickets ($25, or $15 for UT students) or sponsorship packages (various levels), contact Jennifer Wang at [email protected] or 512-475-6064. We hope you can join us in honoring the winners and letting them know what a significant difference their professional approach will make in our communities.

Here are the winners whose pieces from 2010 will be honored at our ceremony on Saturday, April 16, 6:00pm, at the San Jacinto Center on the University of Texas campus in Austin. Our keynote speaker will be Max Sherman, Dean Emeritus of the LBJ School of Public Affairs (and a personal friend of Barbara Jordan) and our emcee will be Mary Gordon Spence, local commentator and public speaker. We hope to see you there!
