2011 TEXAS INTERPRETER EDUCATION SERIES

Deaf Interpreter Training, will be held at Southwest Collegiate Institute
for the Deaf (SWCID) on June 11-15, 2011. Please note that it will begin on
Saturday and will end on Wednesday. This training is for individuals who are
deaf and are interested in becoming a deaf interpreter, and for deaf
interpreters who want to upgrade or improve their interpreting skills.

Tri-Lingual Interpreter Training, will be held at Southwest Collegiate
Institute for the Deaf (SWCID) on June 11-15, 2011. Please note that it will
begin on Saturday and will end on Wednesday. This training will focus on
intensive sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign trilingual interpreting, and will
provide an environment in which participants can stretch their interpreting
horizons and explore new approaches in this specialty area.

General Interpreter Training will be held at Southwest Collegiate Institute
for the Deaf (SWCID) on August 1-5, 2011. This training will focus on
intensive sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting and will provide an
environment in which participants can stretch their interpreting horizons
and develop strategies and skills they can implement in their work.

August 19 – Lucy Wood – Austin – “Working it Out”

November 5 – Lucy Wood – Dallas – ‘More than Words”

October 21-22 – Carla Mathers – “ Best Practices in Legal Interpreting”
(advanced level training with an ethics focus)
