S.V.G. “”Shot in the Arm” Charity Golf Tournament – San Antonio

April 22, 2011

Note: Please spread the word. Even people who are deaf have diabetes. If
someone needs someone to translate, I will be there.

To Whom It May Concern:

On behalf of the of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) South
Central Texas Chapter, and the thousands of families with young children
afflicted with diabetes in Texas, thank you for your participation in the
“SVG Shot in the Arm Charity Golf Tournament”, June 12, 2011 at the Olympia
Hills Golf and Conference Center.

“We are grateful to all of you for your support. We are honored to receive
the proceeds from this tournament which will benefit our mission, to find a
cure for type 1diabetes and its complications through research.” – Ed Hart,
JDRF South Central Texas Chapter Board President-Elect

Diabetes is a $174 billion health care problem nationwide with as many as 3
million Americans—(and the number continues to grow every minute) —
diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease most often contracted
during childhood.

My family knows all too well of the devastating effects type 1 diabetes can
have on a child and a family. Our precious daughter Sabrina is 16. She was
diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was 8. Sabrina also has special
needs, is developmentally delayed and totally non-verbal, which makes her
condition life-threatening. Our local JDRF chapter has helped us through
some very difficult times and frankly, we don’t know how we could have made
it this far without their help.

This is why thousands of local families or those living with type 1 diabetes
are so grateful for your support of the “SVG Shot in the Arm Charity Golf
Tournament”. Because of your generosity, JDRF will be able to continue
funding critical research that offers all of those with type 1 diabetes hope
that a cure will be found in the future.

Again, thank you for your participation in the “SVG Shot in the Arm Charity
Golf Tournament”. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to
contact us at (210) 300-2320. We know you will enjoy your day of golf at
Olympia Hills Golf & Conference Center, and wish you the best of luck on the
course!

Sincerely,

Sharon and Mike Galvan
