Disclosing Disability Training – Wichita Falls

Eric Patterson, Deafness Resource Specialist from Region II, will be
hosting a Disclosing Disability Training for provided by Randi Turner
for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in Wichita Falls on August
16th from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. This training will focus on the factors
to consider when making the determination to disclose disability to a
potential employer. Many consumers are not trained on how to make this
determination and need to have the appropriate tools to be able to make
informed decisions about “if and ‘when” to disclose disability.

The presenter will be Randi Turner, Communications Access Specialist
for the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services – Office
for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. She works with agencies,
service providers and people with hearing loss regarding their rights
and responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act,
Rehabilitation Act, Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and
state law. Randi holds a BAAS degree from Texas State University, RID
CI/CT and Texas “Advanced” interpreter certification.

It will be held in Room 602 at Vernon College, 4105 Maplewood Ave # A,
Wichita Falls, TX 76308. Light refreshments will be provided. This
training is funded by Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative
Services/Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services.
