Austin, Texas – September 30, 2013 Homecoming at the Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) – this Saturday October 5, at the school’s south Austin campus, 1102 South Congress Avenue – is still the most cherished tradition celebrated at the 156 year-old school, and will bring an estimated 2,500 people for a weekend packed full of events.
This year, in addition to TSD’s homecoming festival and crowning of homecoming royalty, TSD hosts deaf teams from 11 other schools from across the nation, for the 15th annual Spike Out Volleyball Tournament, October 4-5.
TSD’s Spirit Week, this week, peaks to a climax Thursday for TSD’s annual Blue and White Pep Rally at 1:00 p.m.
Starting today, the excitement builds with the annual Powder Puff football game after school, and then the class Tug-o-War on Wednesday. All week, TSD students and staff don the appropriate spirit attire each day for themed student activities.

10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. TSD Museum Tours – visit TSD’s latest historical collection of Deaflympic medals, memorabilia, uniforms and banners – chronicling TSD members who have participated in the Deaf Olympic Games, since 1957.
11:00 a.m. Spike-Out XV Volleyball – Single elimination tournament begins
7:00 p.m. Homecoming pre-game
7:30 p.m. Kick-off: TSD Rangers vs. Model Secondary School for the Deaf-Washington D.C

MORE: Parking and complimentary shuttle bus service, Saturday, at St. Edward’s University-3001 South Congress Avenue. Parking on TSD campus is not available Saturday (except handicapped and disabled with valid sticker). Please take advantage of shuttle service and parking at St. Edward’s University from 7:30 a.m. Saturday until 30 minutes after the homecoming game.
