Upcoming Business of Work Job Readiness Seminar and Community Career Expo

The Business of Work Job Readiness Seminar is being held on May 9th at the Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center, 4800 North Lamar. This event is sponsored by the Austin Mayor’s Committee for People with Disabilities in partnership with DARS, Goodwill Industries of Central Texas, the Social Security Administration, Capital Metro and other community service providers. This event is free and open to any Austin resident with a disability who is searching for part time or full time employment.

The Business of Work seminar classes will help you prepare and more effectively participate in the City of Austin Career Expo on May 20th 2014 at the Palmer Events Center. The registration page is located at: http://www.austintexas.gov/businessofwork .

The Business of Work Seminar is a workshop designed to assist persons with disabilities in improving their job seeking skills, including successfully interviewing for a job, writing an effective resume, dressing for success as well as providing information on when to disclose a disability, Social Security work incentives and Medicaid Buy-in programs. Workshop Details

* When: May 9, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
* Where: Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center, 4800 North Lamar
* Morning refreshments and lunch provided.

IMPORTANT: Registration is limited to the first 100 participants. Registration closes on May 7th.

If you choose to register a vocational rehabilitation consumer or job seeker being served by your organization, you may provide them with a copy of the attached participant acceptance letter. Preregistration is required to allow for adequate planning for food and participant accommodations.
