ASL-interpreted show, “The Wars of Heaven” – Austin

Hello, friends,

I wanted to let you know and ask you to spread the word about Trouble Puppet Theater’s upcoming ASL-interpreted show, The Wars of Heaven, which American Theatre magazine describes as “ethereal and epic,” with what the Austin American-Statesman describes as “dazzling visuals.”

The show will have ASL interpretation by Emily Niswonger on May 17. (Please note that this is the show’s closing night, so it is likely to sell out; advance purchase/reservations recommended.)

The location is Salvage Vanguard Theater, 2803 Manor Rd., Austin, 78722. Phone number 512-573-2540. Email [email protected]. Full details below.

“It’s a mixed-media hybrid, layering video images and multiple puppetry pieces
to create a fascinating tableau with depth and texture.” –Austin American-Statesman

The Wars of Heaven, Part  I
Angels and demons are among us, serving God and Lucifer, fighting in all our wars, upholding an ancient order. What happens when some of them begin to doubt the rules?
Part I of Trouble Puppet’s epic three-part tale is a spectacular Miltonic saga, told through tabletop and shadow puppetry. See the universe created and divided, the heavenly host and the fallen at work in humanity’s wars—and a conspiracy revealed between the millennia’s angelic and demonic foot soldiers. With a gorgeous original score by Justin Sherburn and the voices of Convergence.

Parts II and III are to come in 2016 and 2017. Each show stands alone as a complete dramatic work.

The show is created by the company (“one of the most revered theatre companies in the City” —Austin Chronicle, March 2014) that brought Austin award-winning productions of The Jungle, Frankenstein, Riddley Walker, Toil and Trouble, The Cruel Circus, The Head, The Crapstall Street Boys, and Hyde & Jekyll.
