Deaf Dogs Need Home ASAP – Justin, Texas

deaf dogdeaf dog Ellie-Woods
My name is Jessica and I am a foster/volunteer for Apollo Support and Rescue based on Justin, TX. The reason I am reaching out is because we have some wonderful dogs who have been hard to place due to their hearing impairment.

I am attaching images of two pups. Sasha is an Australian Shepard/Collie mix who is completely deaf. She has been with Apollo since puppyhood. She is 2 years old now. Elle Woods was pulled from a shelter, adopted, and then returned due to “aggression” towards other dogs. Unfortunately, we do not have fosters with only one dog household, which is unfortunate for these two beautiful babies. Sasha once knew many commands through ASL, but now will probably need a refresher due to no longer being in a foster home. Whoever adopts these dogs will have their work cut out for them, though it will be so unbelievably rewarding once these babies find a rhythm. I can’t imagine how scary it is for them to be surrounded by other dogs and humans and have no way to communicate. We recommend both animals go into homes without other pets, though if the adopter is experienced in training deaf animals that will definitely make a difference.

Sasha: Sasha is a two year old Australian Shepard/Collie mix who is full of life and energy! She is very loving and playful and enjoys being outdoors just as much as she enjoys being indoors cuddled on the couch with her family. She is crate trained, potty trained and good on a leash. Sasha is a special needs dog due to the fact that she is deaf. She knows several hand commands/signs such as sit, down, yes, no, go potty, night night, shake/high five, go in your kennel, come here, and she is currently learning stay. Due to her impairment, she is unable to hear the warning signs from other animals such as growling or barking therefore she tends to feel uneasy around other pets and would thrive best as the only pet in her home. She is up-to-date on shots, microchipped, spayed, heartworm negative and dewormed! If you are interested or want more information, please click the Sasha button and email us right now! *will need refresher on commands. A website used was http://www.deafdogsrock.com

Elle Woods: Elle Woods got her name because she has beautiful “platinum” fur and blue eyes, like Reese Witherspoon in Legally Blonde. Elle is a young, energetic pit/dog mix. . She is excited when her people
get home from work and gives lots of kisses! Elle is 100% deaf, but that doesn’t stop her from doing the same things a hearing dog can. She has quickly learned a few hand signals and pays close attention to her people. Elle should be introduced to new animals slowly, but quickly warms up and wants to run around and play. She is a lot of fun and will do best in an active household with no cats.

Please feel free to contact me directly about any interest. Thank you so much for allowing us to reach out to you.
